Luxoft presents at the Ethernet Technology Summit 2014
Ethernet Technology Summit 2014 event was held at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, CA from April 29th through May 1st, 2014 . In the emerging technologies track of this conference, Luxoft was presented with an opportunity to participate in a panel that focused on Ethernet and Software Defined Networks. Luxoft’s SDN products director, Ash Bhalgat, presented OpenFlow 1.3 testing and challenges to the audience. Below is an abstract of this talk and presentation.
Let us know if you have any questions.
Openflow version 1.3 is the latest stable specification that ONF has standardized on. Today controller and switch vendors primarily use proprietary test methodology during manual unit and functional tests to verify OF 1.3.1 specification compliance. These methods although are necessary aren’t sufficient due to the very nature of subjective interpretation of open flow specification and hardware/software implementations. Also manual testing of 400+ test scenarios to comply with OF 1.3 test specification could be error prone and laborious.
There is need for vendor neutral automated conformance testing solutions in the market that will help OF vendors to build products that are inter-operable and promote openness in the SDN vendor community. Such solutions will thus improve the efficiency and efficacy of OF 1.3 compliance testing helping vendors bring true OF 1.3 based products to market.
